Uhhhmmm...Because He Sucks?

After reading Ken Gurnick's mailbag on the Dodger website I am happy to report that technology has made tremendous strides recently. Apparently now even mentally retarded people are fully capable of sending emails. "Life Goes On" fan-club member Niall M. is confused that the Dodgers haven't pursued 3B Pedro Feliz. Really? It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that he is terrible at baseball could it? Feliz has a career OPS of just over .700. That is less than excellent. By contrast, Nomar has a career OPS of .890. Definitely satisfactory. The Dodgers also have a kid named Andy Laroche who many followers of the game believe will be an adequate major league player. Here's hoping we stand pat at third.

Niall is only one-upped by Mr. Gurnick's defense of Juan Pierre and Fivel's overall shitiness. A well-reasoned fan points out that Andre Ethier is significantly better than Fivel both offensively and defensively, therefore it would stand to reason that Ethier should be the starter in left field (since those are the only two parts of the game I am aware of). Gurnick cites a gentleman named Tito from Gardena (not sure how long this "lawn maintenance expert" has been scouting MLB players) who retorts that Fivel played every day and got a lot of hits. Apparently basic math escapes both Ken and Tito so I will put this in terms they can understand. Juan Pierre eats dog shit at playing baseball. Anyone who thinks the Dodgers should play him ahead of Kemp, Jones, Ethier, Young, Mr. Falcon, or Mitch Jones is not very smart.

I hate Juan Pierre!

Sent this to Gurnick:

E-mail From: Kenny B

Have you just given up? You've actually resorted to quoting a guy named Tito from Gardena instead of writing answers. I know defending Juan Pierre must be a difficult job to wake up to, but c'mon Ken....don't just mail it in.

Royals signed your favorite slow-delivery Asian pitcher, Hideo Nomo, to a minor league contract.

Dayton Moore had this to say:

"He’s a pitcher who’s had a lot of success. He’s somebody we’re going to give an opportunity to compete for a job in spring training."

I thought Nomo was on that show 'Heroes' now...

Nomo hasn't gotten work in years (ever since he got fired at MadTV).

Falcon, because I know how much you like beat reporters, check out this gem from Ken Gurnick in his most recent Dodgers Mailbag:

QUESTION: Tommy John's love for the game and his willingness to allow Dr. Frank Jobe to experiment with elbow surgery impacted the careers of countless ballplayers. No question about it, T.J. belongs in the Hall of Fame.
-- Fred P., Inglewood, Calif.

KEN'S ANSWER: I think there's no question that Dr. Frank Jobe belongs in the Hall of Fame.

I'm convinced that Gurnick no longer even reads the questions.
