ACTUAL NEWS!!!

OK, it is just a rumor but these days that counts as huge news in my book. MLBTR is reporting, by way of Troy Renck at the Denver Post, that the Dodgers are looking into acquiring Joe Blanton from the A's. Supposedly Oakland wants Ethier, Laroche, and a prospect in return for Mr. Cupcakes (as a girl I used to know called Blanton). My affinity for obese pitchers is well known here at TQ..ViG. I affectionately referred to Brad Penny as "The Fat Man" until that fateful day when Mr. Falcon and I developed the "Tiger Penis" nickname while watching Penny mow down the Reds from the AM/PM All You Can Eat Pavillion (sponsorship check in the mail?). Still I am torn about this deal. Trading Ethier and Laroche means we are stuck with another year of Pierre and Nomar seeing regular playing time (watching this may seriously impair both my health and Br!an's). At the same time I think somebody here posted a career comparison that showed Blanton's numbers are pretty much equivalent to Penny's (and we all know Tiger Penis is radical). And like I said earlier, I love fat pitchers. I'm curious to find out what the rest of you TQ...ViG staffers think of this potential deal so bring on the comments so I know how to advise Coletti next time I shout at him in the stadium parking lot.
