I think this position is pretty much set now and I’m ok with it. It looks like we’re looking at Blake Dewitt/Mark Loretta platoon at 2B. Orlando Hudson is an outstanding defensive 2B who has really developed offensively in the last few years. However, he's likely looking for $10MM per year so I think McCourt’s cash is better spent elsewhere.
As mentioned below, Loretta mashes lefty pitching. His OPS against lefties in 2008 was a monster .904!!! However, DeWitt’s splits are weird. His OBP against righties was only .326 while his OBP against lefties was a robust .402. He also slugged almost 100 points higher against lefties. Fucking weird. I’m sure that won’t last.
Recommendation: Dewitt/Loretta platoon
Prediction: same
