Moving On

Well, Team Manny has again been "insulted" by a contract offer that would have made Ramirez the highest paid outfielder in the history of baseball. Boras has turned down Ned's one year, $25 million offer. Ned claims he still wants to sign Manny but I just don't see it happening after this. On the flip side, the Mets, Yankees, and Angels have repeatedly said that they have "no interest" in signing Manny (per various sources). Ken Rosenthal thinks the Giants and Nationals "may" be the other teams out there that "might" still be interested in signing Manny. Newsflash to Boras, if these teams were going to offer the kind of deal your client wants they would not have been scared off by the two year plus option deal Ned put on the table back in November.

I really don't know what is going to happen with Manny at this point and I just don't care. The guy has proven why folks in Boston, despite his epic production, were so eager to run his ass out of town. He just doesn't get it. The Dodgers have now offered two high paying deals in a market where nobody is getting paid (to a 37 year old outfielder no less) and basically been laughed out of the room by a lying Scott Boras (who seems to think no one offering his client a contract is the equivalent of a huge market for the player). Unless the Dodgers can get Manny for less than they've offered already (they might looking at the market), I do not want them budging. Sources close to Manny also claim that the mercurial slugger would not give the Dodgers a chance to match if he gets what he considers a fair offer from another team, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times. Fuck you, Manny!

Both Rosenthal and Buster Olney say the Dodgers are now interested in signing Wolf AND Dunn AND Orlando Hudson. I take this in a second. This would cost the Dodgers that first round, #17 pick (I think for O-Dog). That puzzles me since the Dodgers seemed unwilling to part with the pick for Sheets (who I'd probably rather have). Rosenthal anticipates we'll have Wolf signed by the end of the week to a deal similar to Jon Garland's (one year plus option). I would rather have gotten Garland for that money but I'll certainly take Wolf over Estes, Vargas, etc. O-Dog would be a big upgrade at 2B over Blake DeWitt. Dunn (who has an offer from the Nationals but is waiting on the Dodgers who he would prefer to play for) mashes the pelota. My only concern will be finding enough napkins at the concession stand to clean up the mess Br!an will make pleasuring himself while Big Adam is at the plate.

Good riddance, Manny. I can't wait to read that you've signed a two-year, $30 million (mostly incentive laden) deal with the Nationals. Thank your agent for me.
