No, I wasn't just shot by the black gangster who I grew up with and thought was my best friend ("I am my brother's keeper!"). No folks, that exclamation is just an expression of my excitement about the Dodgers latest free agent pick-up: Orlando Hudson. While everyone else in LA waits for Manny to come to his senses and sign with the Blue Crew, Ned strapped on his ostrich boots and plucked Hudson from our division "rival" the Arizona D-Bags. Orlando signs on for a one year deal for $3.4 million in guaranteed money (with a possible $4.6 million more in incentives).
Sounds like another great deal to me. Little risk (in either the short term or the long term) and the Dodgers pick up a guy who's won 3 gold gloves and made the all star team as recently as 2007. Some say his D has slipped slightly but he's also OPS'd over .800 each of the past three seasons (a nice improvement over Blake Dewitt's .729 in roughly 400 PA's last year). He's also a natural fit at 2B (unlike Dewitt, a converted 3B).
The only drawback (no, blocking Dewitt's ascension to the starting job is not a drawback, dumbass posters on MLBTR) is that the Dodgers have to part with the 17th pick in the draft (D-Bags also get a supplemental pick but this is a created pick rather than one that belonged to the Dodgers). I'm okay with this. The MLB draft is a monumental crapshoot and, while 1st round picks are more likely to pan out than lower round picks, most 1st round picks still don't pan out. O-Dog himself was a 43rd round pick. I'll take a proven all star over a pick any day of the week, so you faggots in AZ can quit patting yourselves on the ass in whatever bath house you hang out at.
In closing, fuck the D-bags. O-Dog for MVP!!!
